Dr Kristy Nicola

Practice Principal

Dr Kristy is a registered physiotherapist and practice principal at Murarrie.

She has nearly 20 years of clinical experience working in private practice, special schools and on an outreach team as an interprofessional team member delivering individual, group and sport-based, family-centred assessment and management of children of all ages with various neurological, musculoskeletal, rare-genetic, and neurodevelopmental disorders.

She is viewed as an expert in physiotherapy management of children diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder with language and/or behavioural disorders.

Dr Kristy is an award-winning senior lecturer, having supervised research and taught in paediatrics, cardiothoracics and musculoskeletal undergraduate/postgraduate physiotherapy at The University of Queensland, Australian Catholic University, Central Queensland University and Bond University.

Currently, Dr Kristy is the QLD State Chair and Deputy Chair of the National Paediatric group of the Australian Physiotherapy Associations.

Dr Kristy is inspired to work in paediatrics as she enjoys spreading smiles! The smile of a child or adolescent when enjoying physiotherapy! The smiles of parents, guardians, caregivers, teachers, and coaches when they feel empowered on how best to support a child to reach his or her individual potential.

Overall, paediatric physiotherapy is inspirational to her as she gets to work with amazing children and their families, while spreading smiles.
