The Adapted Hanen More Than Words Program is a program for parents of autistic children (aged under 6 years) or children who may benefit from social communication support with practical strategies to support their child’s communication within everyday routines and activities.

This program was developed by experienced speech pathologists from the Hanen Centre in Canada and is offered around the world by speech pathologists who have received specialised training.

As a parent attending this program, you will learn:

• How your child communicates now and what the next step is
• How to identify and include your child’s sensory preferences in fun ways
• How following your child’s lead can result in engaging back and forth interactions
• How to turn everyday activities into opportunities to support your child’s communication
• How to help your child understand what you say
• How to join in with your child’s favourite activities and help them develop their communication skills while having fun together!

The Adapted Hanen More Than Words program consists of:

• 1 pre-program consultation with parent and child
• 5 groups sessions for parents
• 2 individual consultations with parent and child

We are running a free online orientation session for parents on Wednesday, the 29th of January from 6:00–8:30pm.

This is an opportunity for parents to hear more about this amazing program, meet other parents, ask questions, and decide if they would to like to join the program.
