Early Start Australia Fannie Bay has been delivering therapy services to support children and young adults from Darwin, Palmerston and rural areas since 2010

We provide occupational therapy and speech and language pathology services to children and adolescents, from birth-age to 13 years.

Our services are delivered in our clinic, via telehealth and offer mobile services in the home, school, community setting and remote visits.

No matter where you’re at on your therapy journey, we offer a range of services, programs and evidenced-based therapies to realise your goals.

Programs

As part of your therapy journey your therapist we may recommend some specific therapy programs to assist in achieving your goals including:

The use of alternative augmentative communication (AAC) strategies can support people with communication difficulties.

Interventions are designed to achieve functional outcomes that support the child with what they want and need to do for healthy development, participation and independence.

Support your child prior to commencing school or during school transitions to develop the skills they need to be confident and independent at school.

We run small social skills groups for children experiencing difficulties fitting in at school or with their peers.

Practice Principal

Mercedes completed her BAppSc (Occupational Therapy) in 2012 in Colombia and moved to Australia the same year.

Having lived in Sydney and Melbourne, Mercedes moved to Darwin chasing the sun and the lifestyle with her young family.

Mercedes has specialist training and experience in Ayres Sensory Processing Assessment and Intervention, Feeding and Mealtime Management, Interoception, Motor Planning and Praxis, DIR floortime, and Trauma Informed Care.

Mercedes values the importance of kindness, respect, neurodiversity affirming practice and positive team culture.
