About Us

Early Start Australia | SA | Christies Beach (formerly Childhood Language and Speech Pathology) has provided quality therapy services to the children of Adelaide’s southern suburbs since 2007. We provide relationships-based speech pathology, occupational therapy, counselling and support coordination services for children of all ages whose development has not progressed in the expected way.

Known as a quality service, our work in inspired by the words of Dr Stanley Greenspan, “Be supportive and gentle, and do it in the context of the family, remembering that each family is different.”

We assist infants, children and young people (0-18 years) who have challenges such as developmental delays and those diagnosed with Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

We provide services in the clinic, via telehealth, at school, kindergarten, home and childcare.

Meet our Practice Principal

Bronwyn Burgess
Practice Principal

Bronwyn graduated as a speech pathologist in 1984 and has worked as a speech pathologist for over 32 years. Over the years, Bronwyn has worked in adult rehabilitation, but her extensive experience involved working with children with different abilities (or disabilities) in both government and non-government agencies.

Starting a private practice in July 2007 with the support of her husband Samuel as Operations Manager provided the opportunity she was looking for to devote more time to face-to face work with children and their families. Bronwyn began as a sole practitioner and gradually built the team to its current size.

A passion for supporting the development of children on the Autism Spectrum was ignited in 2008 when Bronwyn attended her first DIR Floortime workshop, Introductory Training on the Greenspan/Wieder DIR/ Floortime Approach. A learning journey unfolded, leading Bronwyn into a full year of study to complete the Basic Certificate in DIR Floortime through Profectum Academy.

Bronwyn is also trained to present the Hanen programs: It Takes Two To Talk and More Than Words.
