Meet our Practice Principal

Nicole Grant
Practice Principal

Nicole is a Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a special interest in Autism Spectrum Disorders. She founded Gateway Therapies in Brisbane’s eastern suburbs in 2011, which became part of the Early Start Australia group in 2018.

Nicole completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) in 2000 at the University of Southern Queensland, and then a Master of Occupational Therapy Studies (2002) and Doctor of Philosophy (2016), both at The University of Queensland. In 2017 she was awarded a Dean’s Award from The University of Queensland for her research which focused on helping parents of children newly diagnosed with Autism to make intervention decisions. She has additional training in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), which is an Autism-specific intervention approach.

Nicole still actively contributes to research in the field of Autism through her role as a member of the Australasian Society for Autism Research (ASfAR) and is a reviewer for highly regarded medical journals such as the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders (JADD). She is particularly passionate about implementing research into clinical practice.

Nicole is a mum of two young teenage girls, and has firsthand experience parenting a child on the Autism spectrum. She is also passionate about Animal-Assisted Therapy and Darcy, the family Golden Retriever (a trained Therapy Dog) often visits the ESA Murarrie clinic, much to the delight of our young clients.
