About Us

Early Start Australia | WA | Shenton Park (formerly Sensory Connections) is a paediatric allied health business and has been providing Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Early Intervention specialist services since 2003.

We are based in a comfortable home like environment with a range of spaces including a large gym and smaller therapy rooms.

Our team are committed to supporting each child to reach their potential and to empower parents with the knowledge and skills that they need to support their children’s development.

Our primary specialist area is with early intervention from birth to middle primary years. We work with children with autistic spectrum disorders, language delays, developmental delays, regulatory and sensory processing disorders, motor-based disorders including dyspraxia, attentional and learning disorders, as well as a range of other neuro-developmental challenges.

Rowena Mackiewicz
Practice Principal

Rowena has recently joined the knowledgeable and highly regarded team of therapists at Early Start Australia | Shenton Park, formerly Sensory Connections. She brings her skills and knowledge in supporting and managing therapy teams and day to day running of therapy practices to her role leading the team at Shenton Park.

Rowena is an experienced speech pathologist with a commitment to working collaboratively with families to support their child’s communication needs.  She has long held a special interest in working with children with Autism and their families, and is passionate about supporting individuals to live a good life.

Rowena has always been committed to her own professional journey and loves to learn new and exciting ways to improve interventions. She incorporates many different techniques into her practice. She loves to work with therapists from other disciplines in the best interest of the clients she supports.  Rowena has training in Autism Diagnostic Assessments,  It takes Two to Talk, More than Words, Talkability, Key Word Sign and Secret Agents Society facilitation.
