Oakleigh: increased availability for community based and in-clinic sessions

You spoke; we listened!

We are very excited to now be able to offer our families more opportunities for both community-based sessions and weekly based in-clinic sessions at the Oakleigh clinic.

Benefits of community-based sessions

  • Transfer of goals to the home, kinder and school setting to ensure your child’s goals are able to be achieved in natural environments
  • Increased opportunity to provide hands on support to parents and carers in their primary environment of care
  • Increased collaboration and inclusion of your child’s support team
  • Benefits of weekly based therapy
  • Goals are targeted more frequently so there is an increased opportunity that they will be achieved in a shorter period of time.
  • Children require less revision of previously taught skills as their regularity of sessions allow for better retention of concepts
  • Less chance of monthly sessions due to missed sessions (this can occur if you have fortnightly sessions and miss one fortnight)

Why not have both?

By combining both weekly sessions and community based sessions, we are able to not only target your child goals more frequently, leading to faster outcomes, but we can also ensure you child’s full support team are able to confidently provide the supports and strategies that we recommend.

Depending on your child’s needs, it may be beneficial to alternate between community and clinic-based sessions.

This will allow for our clinic sessions to provide highly individualised practice to strategies for both yourself and your child and then on the opposite week, use these same strategies in a more environmentally focused setting to ensure transfer and skill retention.
