What is the NDIS? Who is eligible?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide funding and support to individuals with disabilities. The goal is to enhance their quality of life, independence, and participation in the community. Early Start Australia is a leading registered NDIS provider, offering a wide range of therapeutic and support services across the country.
In general, eligibility for the NDIS requires meeting three main criteria:
- Age: The individual must be under 65 years old.
- Residency: The individual must reside in Australia as an Australian citizen or hold a Permanent or Protected Special Category Visa.
- Disability Requirement: The individual must have a permanent impairment or disability that significantly impacts their daily life.
Impairments and disabilities that are likely to be funded are classified into two different lists.
List A: If the condition is from list A, it means that the condition is likely to meet the disability requirements in section 24 of the NDIS Act.
List B: If the condition is from list B, it means it is a permanent condition where functional capacity is variable and further assessment of functional capacity is generally required.
How does NDIS work?
The NDIS provides funding based on individual needs and goals, as outlined in a personalised NDIS plan. This plan includes specific support and services designed to help individuals achieve greater independence and improve their overall well-being. Services are funded under various categories such as Core Supports, Capacity Building Supports, and Capital Supports:

- Capital Supports: These include investments in assistive technologies, equipment, and home or vehicle modifications to improve accessibility and functionality.

How to access NDIS services with Early Start Australia
To access our NDIS services, follow these steps:
- Initial Consultation: Speak with your NDIS plan manager or LAC to discuss your needs and the benefits of our services.
- Plan Review: Your plan manager or LAC will help you review your NDIS plan to determine which services can be included.
- Service Coordination: Once services are included in your plan, your plan manager will connect you with Early Start Australia’s services.
- Ongoing Support: Regular updates and reviews ensure the services continue to meet your evolving needs.
